What is a Savanna?

A savanna is a hot seasonally dry gassland with scattered trees. This environment is between a grassland and a forest. Savannas are located in dry tropics and subtropics, often bordering rainforest.Savannas have a long dry season and rainy season.

Savannas are in many different places of the world. They are located in Africa, Australia, South America, India, and Thailand. The most popular savanna is the one in Africa because of all the animals like elephants and lions that are very popular. Africa holds th largest savanna their as well.

Climate

The yearly average tempature of Komodo Island (my focus topic) is 17 degrees celcius to 43 degrees celcius. Komodo Island recieves little to no rainfall. From April to October, the wind is dry and large waves hit the islands side.

Animals that live in the savanna have to adapt to harsh conditions. The savanna has a long dry season where it is very hot. During this time the food and water supply are very scarce. The savanna also has a rainy season. During and after this period of rain the food and of course the water supply are again a plentiful surplus. Many savanna animals migrate to deal with this problem.
